A Garden of 1000 Years

The Garden of a Thousand Years by Anna McMahon and Annie McKinnon

Wander through an immersive and interactive magical hanging garden while you learn about sustainable ethos, thanks to artists Anna McMahon and Annie McKinnon.

Working with the Parramatta community, the artists have created more than 1,000 hanging plants potted in recycled plastic bottles. Inspired by the fact that just one plastic bottle can take up to 1,000 years to break down in landfill, the installation highlights the importance of upcycling for environmental sustainability.

This project has been supported by Oasis Horticulture and Visy Recycling. This project is a NSW EPA Waste Less, Recycle More Initiative funded from the waste levy.
